Managing Expectations is crucial. Because of its importance in product, engineering, business, and relationships. I’ve had my fair share of mismanaged expectations. Whether from a lack of communication, commitment, or not taking control of a situation. Nothing hurts more when poorly managed expectations lead to a failure or ruins a relationship. In a tech startup, being able to layout and manage expectations keeps a team accountable with a clear path to success. It keeps visibility on the areas that matter most.
